I'm starting a separate thread for my logo's created with Gimp, as it's a separate subject. Logo creation isn't my forte, but it's something I want to get into.

Starting with the famous Batman the Movie (1989) logo. Created all from scratch. This isn't 100% accurate, but as close as I could get it.

Stage 1:

Image

I started with several layers, and created the black border and batman logo shape with the paths tool.

Stage 2:

Image

I then bucket filled it with black.

Stage 3:

From there I moved onto manual labouring, continuing to add more layers.

Leading up to:

Final Image:

My tools of choice: Paths tool, air brush, fill tool. I avoided gradients at all cost, even though it may not appear so.

The final image is just a screen-cap and does not represent the size of the actual logo.

Time circa 2 - 3 hours.

Good one. I couldn't get the script to work though.

Here's a not-so-good attempt at making the logo 3D manually with G'mic, airbrushing and filters. Gave it a bit of a bevelled effect:

That looks pretty good for doing it manually. :bigthup

I'm not sure, but did you installed the ML Bevel Reflect Plug-in, which is required for the Bevel Reflect Logo script to function properly

BTW... I have no idea what the ML in the ML Bevel Reflect Plug-in stands for.

ML are the initials of the original author:

Just noticed this doc on his site: http://www.marcel-lancelle.de/research/ ... ending.pdf
which addresses pretty much what tuone was asking for in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12752

Thanks Jontait2. :bigthup Thanks for the links as well.
The Marcel Lancelle documentation on Soft Edge and Soft Corner Blending is very much on the technical side. Although I do understand it, others my not.
It does however demonstrate how and why this occurs and how to avoid it or minimize it's effect.

Batman Returns logo replica created from scratch (other than using the base of the original) with Gimp Painter 2.8. A combination of using shape tools, pen tools, and Mypaint brushes:

My fictional Batman Forever logo. How it might have been if Tim Burton directed the third film, with the original actors and continuity present.
