I am a big art Deco fan, and thought it would be fun to start a thread here in Gimp Chat.
A brief description

Art Deco (/ˌɑrt ˈdɛkoʊ/), or Deco, is an influential visual arts design style which first appeared in France during the 1920s, flourished internationally during the 30s and 40s, then waned in the post-World War II era.[1] It is an eclectic style that combines traditional craft motifs with Machine Age imagery and materials. The style is often characterized by rich colors, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation.

As lame as it looks to me now, this is one of the first Deco wallpapers I made and posted years ago

This is one that people seemed to like using the Plastic and glass plugin I got from here. Its simple, but I think the females liked it, kind of a modern plastic deco look

Agree with Issabella. The colors are bright and shiny. Could lighten up the gloomiest of days!

OK Norseman143, if you love art deco then you have probably heard of Napier in New Zealand, which has a significant art deco heritage. Here is my contribution (of course in glass right now) of a replica of one of these little mushroom things they have standing in the main streets -

Dinasset ... you stole my thunder :)

Issabella - very authentic and of course well composed :clap

Norseman143 - I think you have now weened me off glass effects ... well almost anyway; I am an Art Deco neophyte, so looked at some art deco posters from NZ and borrowed some ideas ...

I am sure somebody will advise if it does not comply with the style and I admit there are some jagged edges, but it is a start :)

Its really not that hard, If I can do it, anyone can. I make mine on a 1366 by 768 canvas because thats the size of my screen, which is huge, so you notice every mistake ha ha

I would suggest just googleing art deco, and you will see a lot of examples to give you Ideas. Or think of the Chrysler building or the Empire state building

There is a lot of metal and glass, which makes it so good with Gimp. There is a plastic and glass plug in, that works really good with getting art deco effects
You can find a lot of patterns if you go to Fontspace and try find catys deco dings, and another one which I cant really remember the name right now, but, you can download them and make brushes with them, and plat around with the different effects, its really fun

There are many people who dont really know what art deco is. But what you have is perfect example of art deco art :coolthup
If you went to any art deco building, that would fit perfectly
