Here's my attempt at an HP Logo.

I used this tutorial as guide: http://www.miligraf.com/photoshop-tutor ... w-hp-logo/

I'll admit, I did cut a few corners by putting my own spin on the logo. Hope you like it.

The blue circle/disk could use a bit of edge refining.
Maybe something like this.

I had that in the beginning. I guess when I merged the layers together as the final result, that layer got lost.

Doing Photoshop tut's with Gimp does have it's challenges.
