OK - glass and wood are so passé ;)

It's time to find a new Gimp medium, so let's try 'light rays' starting with some emoticons ...

Oh, what will you think of next? I'm still learning the "passé" scripts! :hoh
:gaah

You know I have to ask how you did that. . . .

So, you know we want to know how you accomplished your magic! I hope you didn't use Luce, because it never worked on my setup.

Pat625, 2-ton, Wallace and Issabella - thank you for your kind comments. I am using GMIC>Lights & shadows>Light rays and investigating the outcomes of playing with the x/y co-ordinate percentages.

Issabella - interesting star effect that.

Here are a couple more -

PhotoMaster - thank you; I appreciate your comment.

Issabella - thank you for your kind words. You ask how I did it, so I will try to explain how I did the Eros image.

1. The GMIC script appears to uses the shape on the target layer to produce its rays which show up well in the GMIC preview and has 4 parameters that govern direction, length and density of rays.
2. I first used a black image of Eros on a transparent background and created the rays from Eros to top left; they then look like a projection
3. Then I created rays from Eros to the bottom right; in each case I used the 'transparent' option in the script
4. Then I 'selected' each set of rays separately and ran a blue gradient (overlay) across the top rays and a pastel rainbow (grain merge) across the bottom rays
5 I then duplicated some of the ray layers to achieve the final effect

Hope that helps a bit! Basically I am still playing with this script and finding out how to best use the various combinations of parameters for effect in conjunction with overlaid gradients and patterns.

Here are some more attempts -

I agree with Pat. You are at light rays far from us, OMG. :hehe
OMG, thanks for your hints, but I'm still lost in this subject.

Issabella - you are on the way with light rays - :clap ; I have found this script so flexible and because it provides many possibilities, it can take a bit of time to work out optimal combinations.

I also like the subject you chose, perfect for light rays so I might try a ballerina myself. However, I could not get away from glass completely because it also supports light rays well ...

Thank you so much OMG, you are a master on what you put your art. Your glass outcomes come perfect with rays.
I'll try it but I doubt I come out with something nice. :clap

Thanks to you for yours nice comments. :)
OMG, my rays don't obey me at all. I've thrown away many outcomes but only this one is saved. :hehe
Anyway, I'll continue doing more tries :)
