Well, I have done glass; I have done wood; I have done light rays so it is time to move on and learn something new - framed wire art :)

Graechan has a nice script based on a Little Web Hut tutorial; however, I am trying to do it all from scratch and use some other GIMP and GMIC filters too. Never stop learning ;)

OMG just because I did a script does not mean my method was the only way, what you have done is excellant and I would love to see a short tutorial

GC friends - thank you for your nice comments, but I have only been exploring for a couple of days and there is still much to find out and I am still getting some pleasant surprises. :)

So a tut is way off yet. However, give me a couple of weeks to hone what I am trying out like different wire shapes, different filter effects and so on. Then you can let me know just what particular aspects you would like to see in a tutorial.

I just love GIMP. :yes

That second one is amazing, so complex and a bit creepy.

Sallyanne & Graechan - thank you my fellow Aussies.

So much to explore and learn; so many possible types of wire to create, so many GMIC/GIMP scripts to utilise for shaping, but here are some more varied images from the journey ...

In that last one I originally had just hexagonal wire as the background but felt it need more colour, so just selected the transparent bits and used Graechan's alpha shine to fill in ... love it :hi5

Pat625 - thank you; sometimes I even amaze myself :hehe

...but I can see now what happens to Lyle, when you are on a role you can really become quite obsessive about what you are attempting ...

I think I have put together about 20 wire patterns so far, so I think that aspect may constitute a tutorial in itself, given what you guys mentioned above. :)

Pat625 - OK soon, but now I also have to cater for Ofnuts updated shapes plug-in - see below.

On a truly addictive roll right now but learning so much new stuff in both GMIC and GIMP ...

... and now this one all done from paths using Ofnuts updated, brilliant and effective paths/shapes plug-in; thanks again Ofnuts :jumpclap

A couple more but I think my interpretation of 'framed' wire art is becoming more liberal with the effects possible from various scripts; love the learning :)

First one using Ofnuts 'shapes' path script to create the circles then using both a brush and extrude script for the coiled wire/metal -

Image

This one uses one of my wire patterns run through one of the many GMIC>deformation scripts -
