Great! Let's play!
I ran the filter on the first picture in transparent background. After that I added bevel and a bit of shadow on it. Then I ran the filter again on normal picture and set upper layer the previous result. Only for playing. :)

Well, I had the picture without background on transparent layer. I ran the filter once on it.
I added bevel effect and a bit of shadow.
After that I added a background to the original picture combined the layers and ran the filter on this layer.
Then I added the first result (bevelled and shadow) on a new upper layer on the second try.
I liked this effect, too.

The second time when i tried the tree in the fog, it errored out but then i restarted gimp and no more errors can't reproduce it now so i guess it's gone.
