Hi racer.
You are getting very good at e-maps. I like the chrome and the glass text.

It's not too difficult to make. You'll need the Bevel Reflect Logo filter. I made a Screen Cap video on doing it. Make sure to right-click on text layer to add a stroke. Be sure to select gradient on the stroke. When done with stroke, move it below the text layer and duplicate as needed. After merging the layers, you can add a drop shadow if you'd like.

Here is the E-map I used:

Racer, thank you for your nice instructions and video! I am always looking for ways to do glass. Thanks again. I'll practice some more with this.

Great result Pat. If you want to smooth out the edges, I've found that the anti-alias filter in G'mic works great. I'll run it a couple of times to smooth out the edge lines.

Nice work racer - now for some background distortion. Have a look at step 9 here: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5126&hilit=erisian+glass+text#p63989 :)

Great idea about the distortion effect. I thought about that as well, just didn't get around to doing it yet. Here are my examples with distortion.

Another way to create distortion, is to duplicate the background layer, then enlarge that layer. Then add a mask to the top layer and use your original text as the template for the mask.

Example:

I'd like to see just the text and the effect that this image behind it has produced?

Edit: Hey Racer-X,
What's that font ?

It is Bitstream Charter Bold and it came with my Linux distro. I can't find the font, so can't post it.
