Very nice outcome Wallace.
The whole point of my technique is to accentuate animal fur and your "monkey" picture came out super good in that regard.
Nicely done.

Some great Viking ship images above and a Wallace monkey too :clap

Peter there must be a mental connection somewhere because I was also playing with this, a Viking shield with an Icelandic background from a photo I took there -

Really like your shield OMG. Turned out very nice.

Thank you for your comment, Pat.

From this point you can do watercolor affect or oil affect or whatever you choose, whatever pleases you. You're doing very well.
By the way, I've seen your "You Tube" gallery and I'm very impressed with what I'm seeing there.

Thanks Peter, the water color effect I made "by hand" from a tutorial Issabella wrote.
Also thank you for the interest in my You Tube channel. I like making a clip from my work. I'm working on a next one now.

From now on I will post my outcomes in a threat I started in 2014, here on Gimp Chat.
This is the link My Island

Ella Louise: Where can I find the Water Color tutorial by Isabella you mentioned?

I really like that shield, and if it doesn't bear any battle scars, it's just that it's just been finished by the blacksmith, don't worry!
But on a more serious note, it could look even better if you changed the texture of the wood as to simulate the shield being assembled out of planks and not made out of a single massive piece of wood.
... wait, I should actually go and check how actual Viking shields looked before saying that, because I somehow doubt that the industry of the 9th century was able to produce neat, straight planks like the ones we know today.

Here's a video tutorial on how I made this image just for you.

That's fantastic, I should have found that a couple of weeks ago! Hopefully you aren't sad that I used it, too

Thank you Peter :)

You owl is wonderful.

I love animals, but it is so much easier to take a picture of a scenic - it stands still :rofl
