I drew paths that kind'a outline the shapes of original.
Then I have a script that random paintbrushes at the same angle as the closest outline points,
so they're generally in the same direction as the shape defined by paths.

This a test result. I think I need a good set of brushes that look realistic to make it look more interesting.

The previous result was guided by paths that look closely to paths shown here:

If you interested in creating something similar or if you just want to experiment: https://www.gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php ... 918#p20918

WARNING: Plug-in is extremely,... and I MEAN extremely slow.

Turns out it was GIMP 2.10.6 that caused the huge delay between brush strokes when I ran on 2.8 it ran under an hour.

huge delay being the screen goes black and white and inactive then comes back after a while.

with the 2.8 version, you need to run
paint based on paths to file plug-in to export the points to text files
then execute python3 calc.py from terminal or command window to calculate the points
then paint based on paths from file to do the actual rendering.
you might have to change path variable in the plug-ins as they're pointing to my folders right now.
And you need to have python3 and scipy library installed to run calc.py

This one was done in 2.8
image was 4000px in width.
used brush-size 87, brush-spacing 20 (when it finished it didn't completely cover the background so I just blurred the background with 20px radius).

So anyone know of sweet brushes to use...So far I have been using pencil3 brush from GIMP 2.10 (for 2.8 I just copied the pencil3 over from 2.10)
I'd like to experiment with other realistic looking brushes strokes.

Thanks,
I tried looking at one of jpgs they look like something you'd paint continuous stroke with.
Not just a dab here and there that looks like a brush stroke.
It's okay though I created my own by cutting strokes from VanGogh's Starry night painting.

Thanks user444,
Glad you like it. I think you should totally download Python and try it out.
