That's pretty cool. not digging the background though, and the hand render looks like you cut off part of the middle finger (aka best finger lol :D) and around there I see missed bump mapping white spots, or debree or whatever it maybe. Fix that hanf ass a drop shadow new background and it'll be better, but nice job.

Now that's a cool face offnuts. lol

Never said I liked extractions. I had deleted my Sandbox (always do before patching Windows and today's Patch Tuesday), so lost the reference of the lad shooting the marble and now I can't find it. lol

:)

Believe it or not, to scale, the marble this lad was flicking is bigger then the one I created for him to flick here dd (just wish I could find that darn picture; still looking). The kid couldn't be more the 5 years old hence the small finger. :)

edit: finally found the reference. lol

Still can't help myself (might be having a aneurysm that compels me to make these; lol). Only attaching a crop to keep Tux's storage down. Click link below for complete render (used a familiar template that I used more then once already). So simple to make, but so convoluted for me to create a tut; maybe might get motivated another day. Added so much even since I did the fish version (found a cool way to create bands using Ripple filter set to difference). :)

No, a "caustic" in the light-through-glass effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caustic_%28optics%29

Ah; and the trick that I used, believe it or not, is to Copy viewable and place it under the isolated marbles itself (the viewable is the marbles and background) duplicate that result and set the upper one to color and then run lylejk stencil (thanks again to David for keeping this for me) followed by direction motion blur (I like using 235 degs) and reduce Opacity to taste. I included an XCF for those that want to see a quick example of what I'm talking about. :)

edit: Oh yea; best to Gausean blur (10 should do it) the lower layer after motion blur; forgot to do this for this example (and am not re-uploading; lol). :)

edit: arghh; forgot to add the drop shadow using the isolated layer too. Darngat. lol

:)

OK folks; secretely, I've really never stopped playing with marble renders. Didn't want to start another topic so appending on this one. I was approaching the squeeze the wrong way when I was using LqR; I now do it in Inkscape (grow the voronoi circles); keeps the distortion down to a minimum as well as a lot of other advantages (such as use of Mother of Pearl texture; blended the result in GIMP of course. Still, I used G'MIC's Shape average on a non-squeezed voronoi result as well as G'MIC's morphological filter to spread it out for colorizing with the MoP textured marbles. Added a few extra G'MIC tricks to add even more glaze (Local Orientation). :)

ref (crop of this flower that I captured a few months back; it's still blooming by the way believe it or not. lol): http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=15& ... wer#p39512

And this one's for those that like the striped type marbles. Made them all the same size too. :)

Just as a follow up, I just took this picture a few minutes ago. I admit it looks pretty ragged. Dad said let it die already. lol

It is now 39°F (should have taken it inside last night; will do so tonight since it suppose to hit freezing). :)

maybe you can keep it alive all winter, then in the spring trim it way back and repot with fresh soil and see if it will renew itself.

Just put the plant in the forier since it suppose to get freezing tonight. Next few nights suppose to be quite cold here (low 30's). I'll keep it alive as best I can for as long as it wants to fight 2-ton. :)

What a coincidence Lyle here it's nearly 39 degrees centigrade, my plants are dying from heat stroke  .
