This is Lady Helena, Duchess of Snakenborg. She ruled her husband's Duchy after his premature death (had nothing to do with her, he just volunteered to taste test one of SirWilliam Brodrick's more experimental artisan beers and discovered it wasn't altogether healthy) and did a really smashing job of it if she is allowed to say so herself. Of course, she didn't do it all alone, that would be stupid! She made a point of hearing her council on every issue of importance. Her council, however, consisted of her good self (the head on her right shoulder) and her bad self (the head on her left shoulder) - so maybe she had more to say in the ruling of the Duchy than she liked to admit. Her good self would often try to get her to lift taxes for the poorest tenants, her bad self quite enjoyed to see people drawn and quartered and her middle self was most interested in getting John Dowland's autograph but it seems the council meetings were peaceful enough. At least she never emerged from a hearing with her hair torn and her cheeks scratched!

An interesting psychological portrait of an <imaginary> historical figure. The 'committee in the head' is something many can relate to.

Nidhogg: Oh do google her! You're Norwegian, right? I'm sure you'll find just as much about her as I did. She wasn't a duchess, but Swedish nobility and eneded up marrying the brother of one of Henry VII:s wives under somewhat questionable circumstances.
