I thought I would start a sketch book for things I don't intend to finish. It will hopefully inspire me in future work. Here are the first three sketches.

erisian: you and i have rather different approaches to sketching and "doodling". i can accept that you don't see these as fully fledged paintings, but that's how i interpret them. i like "runestone" and "don't anger the witch" best, because i like the spontaneity of them and the soft touch of your painting. what i like best about "journey for two" is the composition and the man's jacket (if it is a man?). in any case, i think you did the right thing posting them and i hope you get lots of comments that can inspire and help you along :)!

It's a great idea to keep them in your new book Erisian. I'm sure that artists as you are, will be inspired when it's the right moment. They are already fantastic as they are. :) :bigthup

Erisian - there is something magical and so attractive about the world you paint and the people that live in it. I wish that I could visit and explore that world. It seems to me that many of us still desire those fantasies that we thought were real as children. Well done again. :paint

It takes skill to be a painter but it takes a child to be an artist. If you have lost your child, you have lost life. :)

Here's another. I don't think you'll like this world omg! :hehe

erisian: that ... thing is soo creepy! i think it's a brilliant little picture, but i hope the man will take a big jump backwards now and run for safety. the evil is probably let out into the world now and nothing he can do about it, but at least he can buy some time and try to think of an escape plan for himself and his dear ones!

Or maybe he summoned the thing. I know he doesn't look the type - he doesn't have a scarlet robe and a goatee - but you never know...

O_O That last one scared me! :hoh

Nice little sketches! Although they are sketches, I'd say you can use more fluidity in your poses.

Erisian - I must have missed your skeletal girl post above with the 'bloody eyes' ... but she is the 'exact image' of a young lass I met and wrote about many, many years back. Seeing her here startled me at first.

Where in your mind do you draw these 'fantasy creatures' from - excellent; I think they should be in Dr Who!

I often start by drawing my usual face guide then getting curious about what would happen if I stretched the guide this way or that. After that I just let my imagination flow. This one was a bit different because I didn't create a guide, I just played with shapes. Oddly enough I feel its very important to think of a painting in abstract terms when you are painting it because it helps you to focus on shapes, composition and colour before dealing with detail.

A nice greyscale painting Erisian! Again your blending is really nice and smooth - looking forward to more dude!
