Since joining GC just over 3 months back I have had an extremely pleasant and entertaining experience. I have been besotted with BRL Logo, fascinated by Fran6‘s fractal reliefs, wooed by woodcut-carved (and others) from Dinasset and tormented with a variety of text scripts from Graechan.

So ‘now for something completely different’ (Wallace knows where that comes from!).

Gollum, that so bewildering character from Lord of the Rings, was digitally (and excellently) created at the WETA Workshop in Wellington, NZ, just a couple of hours flight away from me across the ‘ditch’. Well Gollum is currently visiting OZ for a holiday (vacation!) and is allowing me to regularly post photos of his travels.

So, just for a bit of fun, here we go (with tongue very much in cheek) ...

Image

He obviously decided to start off where most visitors do.

Nice one OMG.

They captured Gollum to a tee, which is very creepy.

For a typical troglodyte, Gollum decided to take on a risky high rise activity when he took on the Sydney Harbour Bridge walk. Going up the very first ladder, chaperoned of course, he looked up rather nervously to see his fan club (inset photo) waving to him.

Some inclement weather forced Gollum indoors today, so he paid a visit to the Sydney Fishmarkets. Well those big eyes opened very wide and we found out quickly that Gollum certainly does not subscribe to the rules of fine dining - he saw the fish there on the icy slab so he just took it and started eating it ....

There must be something about fish and Gollum. He visited the acquarium at Darling Harbour today and he appeared happy looking at all the large tanks with fish, large and small, swarming everywhere.

However, when he went into the 'tunnel' and saw the grey nurse sharks and large rays swimming just over his head, he seemed nervous, cowered down, grimaced and started mumbling ...

Today Gollum wanted to prove that he has a sophisticated and artistic culture streak; he set off to visit the 'Sculptures by The Sea' exhibition along the coastal cliff walk near Bondi. Well, we lost him until suddenly he popped up before our eyes, from inside one of the exhibits, smiling smugly at us.

I think he had some magical assistance, there were laughs coming from the calm surf below.

Well, Gollum has gone off on his own this time down to the 'high country' around Mt Kosciuszko. Apparently he disappeared again but it looks like he has teemed up with a mob of kangaroos.

He was last seen by a local ranger on the slopes, who obviously startled the kangaroo mob in the snow during an almost 'whiteout' situation; he did though manage to take a photo ...

Well this comes as a bit of a surprise - is it Gollum who has left the kangaroo mob to come in from the cold or is it a smiling, docile Smeagol at the entrance bar in the Kosciuszko Chalet.

Whatever the local ale seems to have made its mark!

Ah Sallyanne, Akky must have had some inside political info !!

Very surprisingly Gollum has left the snow and reappeared not too far away in the nation's capital Canberra.

But he is not sightseeing; something must have really got him worked up because he is somehow sitting (besuited!) on the cross benches (i.e. not Liberal, not labor) in our Parliament and really giving it to somebody! He is sitting just in front of that other exemplary politician/businessman Clive Palmer (PUP Party!!) who looks to be playing his normal role.
