I'd be interested to know how long it would take to do this on a much larger scale. You got me thinking of an elephant photo for my daughter's birthday.

Appreciate the words.

Not sure, Mahvin. If you have a beefy enough PC, then I doubt much time at all. I set the stencil to b/w and also ran (duplicate layer of original) my engrave preset trying to match the line size with the string size of the stencil. I set to darken to create the b/w stencil which I fed into blend>shape average (located in my test folder; David was so kind to preserve this preset upon my request many years back and I use it often; he put it into my name's folder). I then did a bit of anti-aliasing cleanup work and other enhancements. :)

I don't know if I managed to get the same effect, but I tried to follow the tips given by lylejk in discuss.pixls.us/

Anyway, I really liked the result.

Thank you Lylejk! :bigthup

:wvy lylejk, it's great as usual. :clap Krikor :clap

lylejk, with the confinement periods imposed by the Covid, could you not redo tutorials as you did about 10 years ago? I am convinced that I would not be the only one to appreciate. :)

Hi level_0, thx by comment.

I can share the xcf with the sets used in G'MIC (which are shown in the name of the layers) applied in my attempts.

But I think that they do not reflect the steps used by lylejk, it is only an approximate attempt (or even that).

In this forum the maximum size for an attachment is 5 MB, so I posted xcf.zip on this link https://www.sendspace.com/file/5kmi45

Looks great, Krikor. To get longer threads if you will, you can play with the Anisotrophic settings. Below's mine (which I call fake smudge). :)

OK; found your Gorilla at Pixabay (believe it's yours). I did remove the effect on the backgroun as you did. Using the Aniso settings mentioned above and setting the Stencil radius to 1 (and iterations set to half way point), below's the result. :)

Lyle - What is good for chimps must be good for wombats - sort of used your 'pixls' instructions but did some other mods too. Thanks for your inspirational post!!
