Nice - a night-out in Middle Earth.

Pity today's Pareidolia is caused by microplastics and industrial crop-spraying. In the good old days it was ergot fungus on bread ;)

Nice picture Erisian, and interesting subject.
Didn't know this psychological phenomenon was called pareidolia.
Like watching horror movies when you were child, imagination begun to run wild, wallpapers and curtain patterns shapeshifting to monsters.

I didn't know that this phenomenon was called pareidolia. I can see some shapes like faces, bears etc even at the tops of trees as the leaves can create that, too. I learn much from you all. :yes

Thank you for your comments everybody. :bigthup

Sallyanne - I should have mentioned, I created the model in Facegen Artist and Daz Studio, dressed her and posed her then used the render in Gimp with G'MIC stylize. I started seeing faces in the image so I deliberately enhanced them to make them a little more obvious.

OMG - I like the rock. Is that your face? It reminds me of your avatar.

Erisian - well I wish, especially with all that hair ... mind you in 1966 it would have looked like me

Erisian, hope you don't mind a late addition. Pareidolia effects have always been a special pleasure for me when I found them in my photos. It was sort of continuing evidence that the Green Man is everywhere. I was fiddling about trying to make a background/texture out of a photo of river ice and saw a small, partial face in one of the results (top image). Enlarged, mirrored to bring out the face illusion. Reminded me -- the blue color especially -- of classic jazz album cover art. Gave the suggestion/impression of someone playing a trumpet. Local cloning to take out some of the symmetry (middle image). Probably should have stopped there but I began to feed that image through more painting effects and noticed some of the thumbnails in the GIMP layers had a decidedly lionly mien, so I tried to emphasize some kind of mane. Curious looking fellow, but I was glad to find him hiding in a snapshot of river ice. Just as much as I was glad to find the subject line of your post. Thought I was the only one who used such language ...

Well done neurolurker/ Now who would think of photos? I guess I don't stare at mine long enough.

Sallyanne, sometimes it takes a while for them to stare back.

Not at all. If people want to take over this thread with their own stuff it'll be fun to see it. Molly had a thread somewhere where she turned random textures into paintings by bringing out the illusions in them and that was fun to be involved with so go ahead everybody!
