This style also is a "variazione sul tema" of Nidhogg's tutorial on G'MIC engrave.
Here the "engraving" lines are very evident.
It assumes to engrave the drawing on a coloured flat base material.
Many base colours are provided by default and the users can specify their own.
The engraving lines can be shown in 3 different ways, here en example using as bas the "moss" colour (default):

Here a triplet using a "coral" background and a cityscape (obviously, the nice girl face of the first post is not the best choice for such a strong texture...)

A different subject: a seascape from Deviant Art.
A different base colour: lake.


Issabella will create much better outcomes, I'm sure...

Changed the engraving step and added the possibility to include a texture (normally it will be wood) in the base.
For this one I used the std "Pine".

...while for this one I used one of my wood patterns:

made two additional changes (light direction and original-on-top layer mode)

To get a more precise feeling of all changes made sofar, look at the outcome of the image posted in the first post, as coming out using the new preset:



now it's approaching an engraving on wood.

Thanks always for your work... I especially like the stone effect in Post #11. Why I like that one in particular is like trying to explain the inexplicable again, but that one seems to me to be "all of a piece." It arrives whole and complete.

Always a challenge for me to turn spontaneous reactions into words, but I'll keep trying.

In agree, that one is my best outcome sofar.
The filter is still "in process", I applied also other changes to cope with some difficulties encountered with other images.

...for this image I spent a couple of hours to resolve the problem of an incomplete embossing.
Back to Wood as material, I try to test both types of base

Another outcome, using a different wood base, but still the same "process" (hope it can remain good for a long time, I'm a bit "exhausted" of doing changes...)

Well, my first results in L_Style. some of them have been surprising to me. Engraving on stones or wooden textures give them a nice look.
