Hi...
Thank you for offering me this space to share my tests and creations.
I am a beginner with Gimp and thanks to the video tutorials I am progressing in my learning.

Here are some small tests that I share with pleasure...
Excuse my French (!!) lol, I am Belgian.

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

Lovely text Lula :jumpclap

It's nice to see GIMPressionist being used. It's a very old filter but I like it and have been playing with it recently on the text effects thread. I think forgetting to hit it's Apply button is easily done and may put people off.

Hi Jappaloe63,

My references are a video that explain the effect with layer mask.
I wrote this tutorial in french without considering the layer masks and I hope you will understand this translation.
Of course you can modify the settings and use layer masks.

- Create a new image... 800/350px on GMIC choose denim
- Text tool... font : Bahnschrift Semi-Bold - Semi-Condensed of another one, size 117px
- write the text
- new transparent layer and name it "outline 1"
- alpha to selection on the text
- draw the selection (tracer la sélection): choose line style with thickness 2 white color or other.
- selection : none
- duplicate the obtained outline and name it "outline 2"
- on layer autline1... filter : distortion - ripple (french word = onduler)
- play with the sliders to obtain a tight ripple (horizontal)
- do the same thing with the layer "contour 2" but this time try to obtain it vertically.
- erase on one of the contour layers, the places that don't look sharp (especially corners and rounded).

I beveled the text slightly before merging it with the other layers.

Thank you for the quick response, I'll try it right away.
There is also a scm file (especially in 2.8 it works well) to create this.
