I enjoy turning photos into cartoon images.
So, I made many experiments with Gimp and G'MIC. I tried the "Cartoon", "CarTOONize", "Toon-inator" Gimp filters. Those ones gave surprising results but I didn't like that many black spots. I tried "Cartoon" G'MIC filter. It gave good results but I would want something nearer from original. And, finally, I tried "Engrave" filter, which gave very amazing results but I didn't want all these lines in each black shadow.
So, I made my own experiments : My challenge was "Don't draw (So, no pencils, no brushes, no selections) ! Just use color adjustments, filters and layers."
Finally, I decided to write my own python plugin that encode my last found method.

Here is an instance of my results:

(To the question : "Convert to the RGB Working Space", I answered "Convert")

And the result of my plugin (with default parameters):

That looks like it works well. You are going to have to upload it are you not?

If you twist their arm a little more maybe I can get it posted on gimpscripts.net, too.

Results look great, thanks for sharing.
For some reason I can't find it in the Filters/Artistic menu on my work machine which is Windows10,
but I'm sure it will work on the Linux without any problems.

Maybe not : You might need a different keyboard I get this in an English setup.

Plenty of accented characters in the script. Replaced the characters causing the errors.

Ah I see, didn't open it in text editor at all. Got it fixed and working, I'm going to have to translate this.

I have not adapted for English language yet, sorry. But, Nidhogg, if you have the time to translate it, that would be very kind.
Unfortunately , I can't reproduce the problem. Please, Nidhogg, can you just remove the first line of bede.2.10.py (the "new line" character included) and tell me if that fix the bug.

The file I attached in my previous post is translated to English, the first line and the 3rd line that was something like #áéó have been also removed.

I made a comparison, and I have to say again Bédé is looking great.

I have read your translation, which is great
Some notes:

• "for 2.10" : Oops, I've forgotten to remove that ("pour 2.10")
• the stars : that too
• anti-parasite : in fact, I used the predefined "plug_in_despeckle", so, maybe, that can be translated "Despeckle"
• black dots bother you : in fact, that remove specks, so, maybe, that can be translated "black specks" (it removes very very little dots)
• the rest sounds perfect for me
