As I’m not creative enough, I search tutorials on the internet.
Some I change a little bit, others I combine or ad a technique I learned in another tutorial.

This is a combined one with some extra techniques.
Sorry, my English is not well enough to explain exactly what I mean.

Comments to improve are welcome.

Very good! :clap
What do you think of a waterfall, trickling between the thumb and the palm of the hand?
A rainbow could also be docked somewhere
I found it very creative and well executed! :bigthup

You do pretty much what I do, use tutorials and other art to create your own thing. You did a great job with this one.

The circle of light at the top needs to be blurred into the sphere. I think the edges are too sharp.
Otherwise it is very nice.
Your English is fine too.

Doing tutorials, especially when you' re combining them doesn' t mean you' re not creative. I' m sure that you' re way more creative that you may think of yourself :)

This piece is quite nice, actually.

the composition is excellent!
I agree with SallyAnne: if you want to further enhance it you need probably to pay attention to the edges (also the hand, it shows a sort of white border around)
anyhow, congrats!

My second attempt.

Akros, I tried to make a rainbow but I didn’t like the outcome.

Sallyanne, I hope I did a better job now.

Dinnaset I don’t understand what you mean by the edges.
The white border at the hand, I noticed too. I don’t know how to improve it.

The globe I made by the following German tutorial.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YH7RJwsH54

The sky, a blue background edited with a few brushes.

To all of you,
Thanks so much for all your comments. I appreciate it :)

just my -poor- attempt in the direction of removing the white contour
(using: duplicated layer, selections combinations and smudging...flatten image again)

There' s a little blur/smudge on the index finger where it touches the globe now, I' d maybe remove that :)

Thanks for the smudging dinasset.

You are right SkyRoma. I adjusted it.
The smudge work from dinasset is much better.
Have to practice a lot more I suppose
:yup

i dont know about the smudging technique you are all talking about but here is what i would do

so you have the hand rendered, everything else but the hand is transparent
alpha select the hand
apply a layermask from selection
blur the layermask a tiny bit (2-5px)
call up the curves tool and apply a curve on the layermask
that will vary the black to white ratio and make the edges of the hands less sharp

what you can also do to mask too sharp edges is applying a very tiny dropshadow without an offset or an inner glow
(that depends on what you want to achieve)

if you upload the rendered hand i can show you what i mean in more detail

okay, so my guess is you painted with black around the hand ?

01. to get the hand selected i used the select by colour tool

02. initialize a layermask from the selection

Image

03. make sure the layermask is active, then blur it (i used 5px)
note how a black haze appears around the hand

Image

04. now for the magic ingredient
with the layermask active, call up the curves tool and drag the curve as you can see in the screenshot
that way you can fine tune the edge

Image

my advice is, next time you render something, paint on the layermask
its non destructive and you can always undo things, by painting with the appropiate colour (black or white)

Very good this tutorial! :coolthup
The fact of being German gave me a tremendous headache. :hoh
To further complicate the tutorial uses version 2.6.11, with different menus for version 2.8.2 :gaah
It was an adventure, but I could understand after reviewing the video 100 times. :rofl
Thanks for posting the link! :bigthup :tyspin

PS: As I was posting my edit, I saw this hand rendered. I ended up using it ;)
