Not been around for quite a few weeks, but before going on holidays I was playing with glass effect images in GIMP, inspired by one of Lyles's posts.

So as I typically get over absorbed in learning different effects, on return home I explored the options and made some more ...

Welcome home OMG. Hope you enjoyed your holiday. I didn't even know you were going as I haven't been around too much while you were away.
Looking forward to photos?

Thank you all for your kind words; much appreciated and I'm glad to be back Gimping.

Sallyanne - re some photos; my favourite sights were the Roman ruins/museum and basilica in Lyon, so I will probably post a couple shortly.

I have some more glass effect attempts below, but feel I'm getting a bit "glassy eyed" now ...

... so a glass pendant resting on a paisley cloth (just for Anmal); a bit like something from my long gone hippy days

... a star shaped ornament

... and looking up into an art deco glass domed roof in an old shopping centre (imagination gone wild now)

Anmal & Erisian - thank you both very much.

Anmal I did not know of 'GMIC circle art' until you mentioned it but I'm sure it will now feature in something soon. Also thanks for the link to the old thread, you will see in the first pic below I used it for inspiration. By the way you are feeding my 'addiction' ... is that legal?

Wallace - well thank you very much once again.

Have just updated the Arakne paths/shapes script and just had to do some more glass works using the new shapes ..

Used the path blend script and one of Anmal's gradients for this one ...

... more glass - plate or decoration, who knows ...

OMG: You make such beautiful patterns! Which scripts are you using to make your designs?

Pat - thank you.

The scripts I am using (because I cannot draw at all!!) are as follows:

- the oulines or paths are created from both Ofnuts path tools (including decorations) and Arakne path generator; sometimes I use Path Blend
- good old Bevel Reflect Logo for the glass effect using any number of spherical e-map variations I created based on an original from Lylejk
- I also use Graechan's glass/plastic script for some glass reflections where I get rid of the generated colour/base layers.

Hope that helps.

oldmangrumpy: you're a glass master now :)! i really like those last three, the glass checkerboard is stunning because it's so simple and still so shiny and glassy. the others are more what i usually fall for, so i'm a bit surprised at the impact that glass checkerboard has on me. as for feeding your addiction, i hope the other gimp chatters will always feed mine and i will never hesitate to feed theirs - especially when the result of it all is that i get to see more inspiring and beautiful stuff from them.

Anmal - as always, thank you; there is a lot of you in my pics (gradients and patterns)!

Well it had to happen - glass paisley! Was not sure whether to put it here or in Anmal's paisley thread ...
