Lyle, I know you're a busy man, but if you're not familiar with it you might enjoy the Wikipedia article on the saying "Turtles all the way down."

Thanks, Sallyanne; does look like scales for sure. I guess, if there were ever giants, they would have meshed turtle shells for their armor. lol
