The Doughboy font in action:

Image

Converted from PS tutorial found here:

http://wegraphics.net/blog/tutorials/cr ... photoshop/

If you read the comments you'll soon see why I asked about someone converting the AFM font, lol. People can get pretty testy online. :hoh :gaah

Hehehe...

I like it! I was looking at that tutorial too but it seemed too complicated/lengthy for me!

Actually, it's not that bad compared to other PS tutorials I've taken on. It's always a "Catch 22" where tutorials are concerned. If you make them too long (and redundant) people get fatigued just thinking about it, and if you make them too short, other people complain they don't understand the steps and want more detail. Personally, I think they should be rated by "Beginner, Intermediate, and Professional". That way most users know their own skill sets and proceed with that understanding.

I had trouble getting the melted drops to look more colored than what they are. I tried Sebastian's method but the Layer Effects in GIMP (although nice to use in most cases) didn't translate well to the layer styles in the tute. So I used Chelan's water drop method, instead. But due to layer modes, coloring seems a bit tough to achieve and obtain the tutorial's result.

Eh well for now it looks close enough! I like it and i dont think people will be complaining that your water droplets arent colored enough. I would say most artists have that one thing on the picture that they really feel they didnt do a good job but others wont notice unless you point it out. But i really like it i might have to try it.

If you use the doughboy font, keep in mind it's not centered in the bounding box, its dropped way down. At first, you'll think its broken, but it's not, it's just way lower than you'd expect. At least that is how it behaves in Ubuntu.

I always just autocrop the layer first then center it... normally i dont need to edit my font after i center it.

Behaves that way for me, too, mahvin. Also, when I posted the text in the other thread I found I had to really decrease the vertical spacing ... like in the -100's.

You can take this one and just make the borders bigger. :)
Then fill it with the same color.

Here is an example of adding a select grow by 5 to a few of the characters in the font group. :)
