Again, used my Dad's image for this one. The trick is to pick cool reflections textures to bounce off the glass. Sorry, but there's just no way that I can create a tut doing these since the nuances, but can say that I had some help with a few G'MIC presets and also some Inkscape filters. There really isn't any reason the Inkscape filters can't be ported into GIMP since they are essentially bitmapped filters and I do wish someone on the GIMP staff would port these cool plugins directly for GIMP's use, but I continue to be glad that I have Shellout. :)

Cool effect Mr. Krolsky. I also see a lot of wisdom in those eyes. I would venture a guess that your dad was a "what you see is what you get" kind of a guy.

He definitely was a Depression era kid Drac. Lived in hard times so knew how to survive. Served his country well too. Thanks for the comments Molly/Drac. :)

Really cool effect Lyle. :)
I know what you mean about Inkscape filters.Essentially all are python scripted and should work well in Gimp if they were ever changed to call Gimps PDB. Not sure if it's that easy i am not a python module creator/scrip writer but maybe someone here like Ofnuts could answer that question.

Wish I had that desire to learn the code side of things Rod, but alas, hated that part of Engineer in college and only did some small routines batch programming professionally. Not sure why I hate coding so much; did alright in those courses in college. Just glad we have members here who do fantastic work in that area of GIMP. :)

Cool effect. It looks like a crystal or ice sculpture. :bigthup

Thanks Tux.

OK PC; short list of Inkscape presets that I want ported to GIMP:

Cracked Glass, Jam Spread, Retractive Gel A, Retractive Gel B, and 3D Marble. Trust me there's more, but these I use quite often enough. Since they are bitmapped, alpha channel compatible presets, they should be compatible in GIMP too. :)

Just looking at the filters they look like gmic presets, maybe David or Photocomix can understand them.

Glad you liked the result Pauline. Unlike the ceramic render, trying to create an outline for these type renders is just way too much work for a lazy guy like me. Used a lot of cool Inkscape plugins anyway (which should get ported to GIMP since there is not real excuse because they are bitmap plugins). :)

Wow, the image not only looks like ice or glass, it's so clear, as in not blurry....oh, it's "crystal clear", lol

Thanks 2-ton; had fun figuring out how to create glass. Still way too time consuming; ceramics are easier. :)
