(click for DA version)

Did this one as a birthday card to my dad - he really likes this character. Putting it up here for feedback before sending it off. :) Will put it up on DA later so as to not spoil the surprise.

EDIT: Put it up on DA. Dad was pleased. :)

I love that Griatch, Your landscapes are so beautiful. The sky and the flowers that have gone to seed have such a nice contrast. Excellent!
Your dad will love it

Love this...the total contrast between the soft landscape, the amazing depth, and the monster that is seemingly not such a monster after all. Who would think that a monster could sit in contemplation, lol

Amazing is what I've come to expect from you Griatch. The detail in the dandelions and the grass are wonderful. I can't tell if that is mountains or water on the horizon but it looks like it is curved as if he is on a hill on a very small planet or is that an "elliptical exclusion"? :hehe

Thanks for the comments!

@molly
The flowers are indeed there for contrast, so good it seems to work.
@2-ton
Yes, it's fun to combine elements like this; the character is my old "troll merchant" one, the whole concept of that one is, as you say, to have a monster doing non-monter-y things. :)
@ZWard117:
Thanks! :D
@Draconian
It's supposed to be mountains on the horizon, but I guess it doesn't really matter. :) The curvature is intended to enforce the feeling of height and produce a sort of lens effect. Is that what you mean by "elliptical exclusion"?

This is one of may favs of your work, Griatch.

I really like the use of color and the way the light comes from over the creature's left shoulder. The moon filtering though the clouds is also a nice touch. As other have said, the dandelions and grass are very well done. The feeling of contemplation by the subject really comes though, as well.

Kudos!!

Uploaded to DA. Dad liked it. :)

@Draconian
Ah, sorry, I was too slow on that one. :)

@GnuTux
Favs? That's high praise! Glad you like it, this is a slightly different use of colour for me, with bright, happy hues and no solid blacks. Hoped it would would convey the peaceful mood better, good to hear this is also the mood you and others seem to take away from this.
