M3D for the structure, gimp to edit and merge the BG ...and the microscopic character almost too little to be visible .
But even if too little to be visible i hope may contribute for contrast,at least at subliminal level ,to give the sense of proportions.
(but i believe may be visible only at full view)

I just love the way those orange's and yellow's jump out at you. There is so much contrast against those dark clouds...excellent PC

As far i know there is no way to make "eggs" in M3D ..so below i cheated , cheated in the most simple way you may imagine...

hem.. this is really raw, and rough, i didn't replace the BG and in the bg you may even see the ghost of what was in the nav but went MIA in the render, but i want share with you the idea...

thank...for the egg the trick is trivial as you may guess from here

at first i thought to use asymmetric resizing in a very subtle way only to straighten the vertical lines of the structure around the sphere..but at the last minute i preferred try something more extreme

well there are a couple of details still to correct in the BG but the general look now is closer to what i wish
