Some of the best effects happen by accident.

Cool Erisian. I don't know how to do that.

I'll go through it myself again because I can't remember exactly what I did, then I'll let you know.

Here's how I did it.

This is the original image.

Image

Add G'MIC's cube frame with the depth set at 0.4 or less.

Image

Add a new layer, fill it with a light grey to dark grey gradient then run G'MIC/colors/metallic look with the strength setting down to about half way. Do cube frame on this layer with the settings the same as before so that they match. (I forgot to do this bit on the photo but it's a good idea to run G'MIC's rodilius at this stage for some sparkle.)

Image

Put the layer onto hard light and flatten

Add a frame of your choice.

That cube looks really cool but the sphere looks more like some kind of bug more than anything else. Cool effects Erisian.

Very cool Erisian. I believe that adding some Droste effect from the new G'MIC filter would be really cool too :)

Wow those are very cool. I guess I am going to have to try this out. Did you start with a frame first, then run the mirror thing? I haven't had time this morning to really look at it, (catching up on the dusting I haven't done forever) UGH

I was thinking of adding Droste but I've got to get the hang of the filter first. Lyle would probably do a good job of it.

Thanks Drac. The sphere does look rather horrible!

Molly - yep, I started with a frame then ran the cube frame a couple of times first. Bet your housework is more together than mine!

EDIT: I ran Selection Bevel on the frame first.

I think if it wasn't for the green background, I would erase the parts at the bottom so they look like legs and it would then look exactly like a bug. It is really cool.

Good idea Mo. I've still got the layered xcf so I could try it.
