Tools used in GIMP: G'MIC Paint, G'MIC Bilateral Filter and lots of various layer blends

Tools outside of GIMP: Buzz, and Paint Engine w/ @Wetter2 preset

Not a completely GIMP render; I usually show my wackyness, but I thought would show some more conventional art that I also usually post elsewhere for this one. I nearly always use GIMP and G'MIC for all my edits. As for how I did this one, I have to keep my secrets sometime (i.e., way too many steps for a lazy guy like me to outline; lol). Hope you all like the result.

Thanks Mahvin. The secret with the watercolor bleeding is Paint Engine w/ @Wetter2 preset. Works fine in Irfanview (which I use as a surrogate via copy/paste since it's faster doing so then Shellout. Don't believe Paint Engine works in XNView but am not sure. I know Impressionist doesn't work in XNView, but it does work fantastic via PSPI (one of the few PS filters that wasn't broken; still have to use RobA's trick to get it to work in GIMP though). Both Impressionist and Paint Engine are 2 of my favorite artistic filters that I use from time to time.

Lyle i was able to get Paint Engine to work by placing the 8bf and ini file in the same folder and linking PSPI to it.
Restart Gimp you get the not found in image resource error (like Impressionist). Close Gimp.
Open the pspirc file in Notepad ++ search for pe -
Then add this just as with Impressionist after the ps plugin path line ---.


before the </ps-plug-in> end tag.

Now restart Gimp

Check Trimoon's site out for details MareroQ. Buzz 3 is abandonware (i.e., can't buy it), but Trimoon hosts it (so free).

What's next?

Go to Trimoon's site again and click on Impressionist. It's a granddaddy (originally created by Microsoft and shipped with Office 2000 as I recall), but still an extremely powerful plugin to this day. Works in GIMP too (via PSPI) if you use RobA's modifications similar to what Rod showed for Paint Engine. It doesn't work with transparancies though (ie, no alpha channel if you run the filter).
