A winter illustration. This time I used a snapshot I took of the Spokane River in Spokane, WA as a reference. I'm rather pleased with the way the icicles came out. I came up with a neat little technique involving image masks to get the lighting effects. I wish I had a more complex background to set them against.

The winter scene is perfect for the summer, it's cooling to look at it...and I see little Mara down there, lol.

Add some fur linings to what she has on a hood and give her a pair of pants. There you go, a winter get up to match.

She did have a coat, but it was stolen in the chapter that precedes this one by the city guards. The boy in the picture finds her in the woods and she takes him to the icicle city that you're looking at.
