I was playing around with a script called, "sand-textur_250.scm", PS brushes "Chain - Footprints.abr" and Bump Maps. I'm not 100% happy but I think it came out OK. Any help would be good.

Attached below, "sand-textur_250.zip" contains the original "sand-textur_250.scm" script (also at Gimp Plugin Registry) and "sand-textur_250_2.scm" which has the menus translated into English.

Pretty good. The darkest shadows inside the footprints need to be a little darker but I like the effect.

I created this flat then used the perspective tool on the layer. Reducing elevation and increasing depth increases the contrast when bump mapping.

That's what I was looking for. I'll try that for sure.

I used spherical rather than linear. I don't think it made a lot of difference but I think it's a little smoother.
