Erisian inspired me to do this. Very simple flow. G'MIC Paint followed by G'MIC b/w Stamp. :)

looks woodcut-like in a modern way

if you swap the white for a shocking pink, it would look a bit warholish

Esper, you gave me an idea when you mentioned "woodcut". Very clean method for woodcarving patterns.

I had a similar texture as yours in 2.6x Drac; need to find it again and copy it to 2.8. lol

Anyway, thought I would play too. :)

Glad I'm useful for something. I like your woodcut.

If you made a shallow carving on wood and used a dark wood filler and sanded it down thats pretty much what it would end up looking like.

That's a good technique.

Thanks for the comments. GIMP's bumpmap filter works great for these type renders including sandwriting. Using the mask set to either burn or multiply (and play with opacity sliders) really does help with the filler effect too. :)

It may just because the colors are brighter but I have to admit I like yours better Lyle. Mine's just too dark overall and hard to see after comparing the two.
