This really has come about because I've been experimenting with Rob A's RMA path blend script. I like trying to create 3dish shapes in gimp but trying to curve gradients to create the shadows and texture can be a nightmare, then I came across the above script and it was ideal for what I was trying to achieve.
Finally I used Grechan's new Plastic or Glass script just to boost the highlights of the goblet, you'll find the script here.

The result is amazing. I love it!
I maybe just apply the blur (selective) tool :blur in some hard edges.

he4rty: that's very cever, i don't think i would ever have thought of using the script like that. i've ony been trying (and failing) to make credible ribbons with it. i think the upper part of the goblet looks lovely, it looks like a silver goblet that's been around for a few years. but the stem (or whatever it's called!) doesn't really fit in, it has a very modern, straight lined and brushed steel-y look about it that doesn't go perfectly with the upper part.

Thanks for the Comments.

Anmal - The stems been bugging me as well, first I think its to thick maybe need to slim it down a bit and second also wondering whether to give it some shape, also I don't like the base colouring much either.

I can see some google research coming.
