I'm somewhat new to GIMP/GAP but not to graphics programs. I'm attempting to use the Video-->Morph and it works with some test images, but on the ones I really want it to work, the morph starts with one face then fades to a weird background and the second image never appears. The 2 images are simple JPG's and I've even removed the "background" behind the 2 people. The images are not overly large (file size or dimensionally).

I've tried the tool with other images (from an online tutorial) and it works, so it's got to be something with these two images or with how I'm configuring them in GIMP. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Try using .gif images as opposed to .jpg images. Make sure each layer has an alpha channel. Try using at least 25 layers for the animation.

Mike, that's a great idea! I had stuck with JPG's because these were photos, but I'll give that a try. I had definitely been using 25 layers and making each image an alpha channel.

On a quick side note (cuz I'm new to GIMP), how can I change my cursor to something other than the tool selected in the toolbox? I just need the pointer...maybe it's ok and I'm just spoiled by other software...? Thanks for the quick reply. I'll let you know how the GIF's go....

One thing I do out of habit is always select the move tool as a kind of default until I need another tool. It works for me, I don't normally notice the cursor until I need to.

No the problem can't be the use of jpg and so use instead gif (that has even lower quality) would not help
Instead check the images size, the 2 images images should have exactly same size

PhotoComix: do you mean the same size dimensionally or file-size? I'll try to make them the same size dimensionally and see what happens...they are slightly different H & W.....thanks!

In Edit>Preferences>Image_Window change Mouse Pointer mode from Tool_icon to Crosshair_only or Tool_icon_with_crosshair. I, personally, prefer the latter.
