This piece grew out of an interest in making an evergreen tree in gimp. I made a simple animated rotating brush using
RobA's Rotating Brush Assistant script. I then used it to add needles along various paths which became the branches of the tree. Here is the final result:

For anyone interested in how this was done, I am including a zipped file containing the rotating brush and various XCF and PNG image files. The XCF files contain labeled layers and paths.
