I love the effect and I love stippling! I would love to get a true stippled look. These are my stippled peanuts, hand stippled (dotted) when I was in college. It took about 3 weeks to do and is made up of approximately 3000 dots. I restarted several times until I got the look I wanted. I still have some of my older attempts. The original hand stippled image is poster size!

SO it is greyscale dithering, not B&W dithering?

Thanks for the tut, mahv. My stippling doesn't show a lot but it is there and I like the look.

Original image here.

It also looks nice with the original image set to grain merge over the results.

@RobA: Under G'MIC its the B&W Dithering option under Colors menu.

@O: that's pretty darn impressive.

Thanks guys. I like all of the ones you have done. In particular, I loved seeing the pictures of yourselves done that way. Totally way cool.

Every image is awesome! I'm still working on finding other stippling methods, too.

Very nice, Molly. :clap :jumpclap

This is an image of a supposed UFO and the moon but it looks like the UFO was painted in to me. See original image here.

I like the moon like that.

Bigger dots. :mrgreen:

Highkeyed, dithered, dup, blur with 0.2 radius and multiplied that result. flattened, and repeated. Final subtle cleaning with Photocomix smoothing. Just wish I could get Accord's program to work (new ImageMagic incompatible with his program, and, for some reason, the old version partially works and then crashes; not sure if it's a VM issue). :)

@Lyle: I don't understand your instructions, like highkeyed, etc. Sounds like you are doing this in some other program. Could you clarify, please?

I love the results, just wish there was a program/plug-in that could randomize (voronoi, for example) on dot size according to black thickness. Secord's results do this, but how I wish someone would take that and run with it. It seems like the thing we are all looking for, lol. :)

I shouldn't have called it Highkey. I created a solid white fill layer set to 90% Opacity and the a copy of the original on top layer set to burn. :)

Somebody has, but you have to email him and he may share his code (I haven't yet). :)
