i played with the multi-replicate script, it works a little like the clone layer tool only you can multi-replicate other things than layers and i find the settings a little easier. one of the shapes i made somehow reminded me of the worming movements of a nettle fish's tentacles, so i think of it as a medusa. here's something i made with a couple of medusas:

I love your colors here. Especially the way the medusas seem to glow.

Lovely! All my favourite colours and paisley circles as well.

At first look I felt this to be one of those faux-3D images you need to squint at to see the depth. :) I like the colour balance here as well as the faint shadows lending depth to the "medusas" over the abstract background. Might maybe be interesting to try to make this into a repeatable pattern?

ek22: thank you :)! i used two g'mic filters on my medusas, don't remember which one i used to boost the colours but it was one of photo comix filters, then samj's metallic colours filter to get a little texture.
erisian: thanks! i should have guessed you would like this one - all in bluish tones and the paisleys :). but if you look closely you'll see they're not really circles - the paisleys get gradually bigger and that gives a slight asymmetry.
griatch: tack! the background did get an almost stereoscopic look :). i wanted it to look a bit like embossed foil and this was my best attempt. pattern junkie as i am i had to try the repeatable pattern, i had to simplify it but it's still okay to look at:

dust: first i had no idea what you were talking about, then i thought maybe you were thinking of this?

Those are way too pretty to be Gorgons.

gms9810: hehe, thank you - i wasn't thinking of gorgons this time, though, but of sea creatures. a certain family of jellyfish or nettle fish are called medusas.

Yes, I figured you were since that doesn't look anything like my ex wife. Alas, nothing can do a better job than nature with them. Still I like everything I've seen that you've posted.
