I will work on the next tutorial, but it is not easy.
This technique, especially the reflections is not for beginner.
I saw a lot of impressive photoshop typos, so i thought i must do
something very new and high end effects only for GIMP. :yes

I like that it's cool! Idk if I have enough motivation to do a tutorial but I might do it anyways. :P

chris f: you're a genius! that balloon text looks lovely - i really doubt i'd be able to reproduce the result no matter how good the tutorial was.

Thanks for your nice comments. There is a good chance to finish the tutorial this weekend. ;)
I moved from Inkscape to Libre Office. It is better for longer tutorials.
I change the title of the thread , cause i will post more text effect ideas here.
I don`t know if i can write tutorials for all, but will explain the most of it.
Here 3 more quick experiences:

Your work is great Chris. I love those three but I find the bottom one a little dark. I think it would be nice to see more of that nice red shining through. Just my opinion of coarse.

Another simple idea...
Do you remember when you used the last time the page curl script?

...i know you will use it in the future. ;) just simple.

Nice effect, I have used it before but not on text.
How were you able to curl a different corner on each letter?

Loving "stone"... How do you generate the lattice? By hand or do you have a script?

@Molly: you select a part with the rectangle tool and the script add a new layer.
Just go back to the text layer and select an other part. Texture on the text now.
At last i merge the curl-layers and colorize it a bit.

@ofnuts: I use the script: Distorts>Mosaic (Hexagons) and play with the settings.
Especially with spacing. At last a bit bumpmap and texture overlay.

Cool. as I said before I have used the script before, I did think of doing it in layers like that. I really like it, thanks.
