Thanks 2-ton,
I wish I would have saved the .xcf of this image.
I have a bed habit of deleting things before there time, Especially my .xcf files.

Thanks Esper,

Also FYI...

Frank Frazetta: (February 9, 1928 – May 10, 2010) was an American fantasy and science fiction artist, noted for work in comic books, paperback book covers, paintings, posters, LP record album covers and other media. He was the subject of a 2003 documentary...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEOokuyj1ws.

Frazetta was inducted into the comic book industry's 'Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame' (The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, commonly shortened to the Eisner Awards, are prizes given for creative achievement in American comic books, sometimes referred to as the Comics Industry's equivalent of the Oscar Awards.)
in 1995 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame (The Jack Kirby Awards are for achievement in comic books and were presented from 1985-1987 by 'Amazing Heroes magazine', and managed by 'Fantagraphics' employee Dave Olbrich. It's named after the pioneering writer and artist Jack Kirby, and voted on by comic-book professionals) in 1999.

@ AnMal,

:huh I'm floored my your comment.
There is no possible way that my Frazetta inspired piece could ever begin to compare to the Masters. :bowdown

Nonetheless, thank you...

The huge heavy-hooved horses ridden by cute curls are a staple of Frazetta. :) He was an oil painter so this is not quite similar in technique, but the theme certainly fits! :D
Nice dramatic take on it, the sillouette could well be a frazetta girl. Did you draw the outline yourself or is it based on a stock? Good work in any case.

PS: Fun fact: The classic look of Conan the Barbarian (as a super-muscular, long-haired dude) is solely based on the work of Frazetta. In the books he's not described all that much, he's probably intended to be more lean and slim than being a body builder. Frazetta defined how the "barbarian" archetype should look:

@ Griatch,

Thank you.

The only references used were found using google for horse parts, other then that it's all Gimp and I.

Cool! Lots of excellent details in the outline, especially the hairs - getting the whole thing so clean must be a lot of work in GIMP, I would have expected Inkscape to be involved somewhere. Most interesting. So is the outline drawn using the ink tool then or is some other GIMP workflow involved?

Just your basic :pathtool & :brush, with brush dynamics. Nothing special, followed my out line and improvised with the :brush when needed.
