Drawing them is an endless challenge and I try to depict each one as carefully as possible. Still working with hair in Gimp but here is a reworked equine I finished this evening. My wrist hurts a little :mcof

Nicely done! :jumpclap

Maybe you could help out this person 'Maggie261982', she is looking for someone to do the shading of a horse. I tried to help her, but I made changes to the line-art of the horse, that she didn't like. My shading was spot on though, but she didn't like the line changes I made.
Here's the like if your interested.

@SilverLining.That horse is just beautiful. What kind of brush do you use for your hair, it is fantastic. You are very talented.

@Wallace, what do you use to do your shading, do you work in Gimp or MyPaint? I am having real problems to get the shading right and I think I must be using the wrong brushes to do the job.

Really nice work and the muscle tone of the horse looks excellent.

@Molly...

I use Gimp and have never worked with MyPaint before. I tend to use darker colors of the base color, using a soft brush and playing with the brushes dynamics, all is done on it's own layer of course, a lot of the :smudge tool and a bit of selective blurring.
It's all trial and error really, but knowing the muscle/bone structure of a horse can help make it look realistic.
I'm not really a big 'horse' fan, so I don't do them that often.
I did have training as a 'farm animal' vet-tech, which helped me a lot. ;)

Thank you Wallace. I am having such a frustrating time doing some flowers. I found a bunch of blending tutes in Google so I will watch some of them to see if it helps.

Wonderful result Robbin. Really like the sheen and the result you created for the mane and tail. :)

@ Molly...

Getting the blending right for flowers is just as important as any other kind of blending, so those tut's should give you some pointers.
Practicing using the :smudge tool is always a good way to find out what can work for you.

Good Luck. :bigthup

 I do use the blending tool a lot but some times I get carried away with it and smudge away my color.

@ Molly...

I usually do my blending on a duplicate layer, so if I go to heavy I can always start over. I begin small and work my way up to what I feel is needed.
