Tried this tutorial again. Not too bad of a result, but would like some hints on how to make it better. I tried to visually adjust some of the parameters, but not really sure what I am doing. I also tried SamJ's g'mic watercolor but got totally lost as to which slider did what, and I could not figure out how to make the edge stop changing with each parameter change. Any suggestion for the tutorial or the script would be great.

Where is this tutorial you speak of 2-ton. Is the picture supposed to have that white line around it?

Molly, I was following the video tutorial that Chris made a while back. And the white lines are supposed to be there, but they are too heavy and too pronounced, I can never get them thin enough.

about Samj' watercolor:
put edges threshold to maximum (50), and you will get rid of white contours

I want some of the white lines, just thinner, and I also cannot figure out how to get the outer part of the color where I want it. I seems to change automatically and randomly each time I try new parameters on other effects. There is no slider that I know of for how far in or out the color edge will be.

there is no parameter to define area of intervention, as you have seen; a trick is to put your image at the centre of a bigger white layer, apply the plug-in, then cut around your image contours, as here:

Thank you dinasset. I really don't care for the white lines, I am glad there is an alternative for it.

You can use "Filters > generic > dilate / erode" for the lines.

Lovely watercolor, Wallace. I had a problem with the brushes from Chris. The watercolor brush 3 downloaded and installed just find, but 1 and 2 will not show up. Go figure. I substituted some other brushes, but had wanted to try all of his.

Thanks 2-ton... I didn't know that Chris was offering 'watercolor' brushes along with the tutorial, so I used what I already had installed. His brushes looked much nicer in the video then the plain old ones I used. I still achieved super results following his tut though.
I also used 'apply canvas' filter to create the subtle canvas texture. All in all, I'm very pleased with the image as well as the tutorial.

Top-Notch Tut!
:hehe

2-ton: how is your experimenting going? looking forward to seeing your results from that tutorial!

wallace: stunning! looks really lovely. i think a lot of the wow effect in these pictures comes from what just seems like a mess when you're still working on them.

Yes AnMal, that seems to be the case and thanks. You know that saying... “It Gets Worse Before It Gets Better.”. . This saying is fitting to this tutorial.
