i made a knot in knotworker about a week ago that had the potential of becoming something nice looking. it took me almost all week to get the path edited, though! i've discovered that knotworker won't allow certain break and rejoin operations unless i work them in a certain order, so hopefully next time i can do more of the work in knot worker and it will take me less time to edit.
didn't really know how to decorate it, but i've made a lot of glass lately, so i decided to try a glass knot.

knotwork is usually not my thing
but this glass is amazing !

i mean really amazing, and not because i found most of your stuff amazing
its amazing because it looks like real glass !

is that all done with a script ?

i think it would be great to have some kind of tutorial for this effect, because it so....essential !

Really nice work AnMal, the background colour and texture sets the glass off beautifully.

this would be a wonderful tutorial, both for the knotwork and for the glass effect!

thanks everyone! i've had another headache (i think it's the weather: high air pressure, sunshine and heat wave) and don't want another migraine so i should get off the computer soon - no elaborate replies this time. but thanks for all the comments. there's no need for a tutorial, i'll explain when i get back next time.

Very nice effect AnMal. I love the color combo. BTW, how did you get that background?

molly: thank you :)! i used a turbulent solid noise layer colourised, ran the g'mic water filter (in deformations) on it and then made a plain layer in the same colour above it, ran samj*s couleurs metalliques on it and put it in overlay mode. probably unnecessarily complicated for something so simple :).

i said i would explain about the glass effect, so here goes:
i used a very slightly tweaked version of the same glass technique i used on the text in my "shards of glass" image (http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7116&start=10). the reason the two images look so different is just that i started from a patterned image this time and when i was done with the glass i ran jayprich's specular bumps filter (g'mic-> testing -> jayprich) on the base image to get some extra highlights. both here and in "shards of glass" i used kward's glass script for the basic glass layers.
about a tutorial for the knotwork: i used knotworker to make the basic knot, in gimp i only made a path from the original image and then edited the path - no point in writing a tutorial for that.

Your design is excellent and you were were able to get realistic glass effect with the overlay technique. It looks like a crystal pendant. :2thup

thanks everyone! no time for a better reply, but i'm glad you left comments!
I work with a high zoom level, i was recommended 800% for editing knotwork, but usualy you get on fine with 400% or even 200. at those zoom levels it's a bit easier to see the path between the nodes.
