I have a folder full of work that I like a lot but can't find any use for. Here's some examples.

They would make some pretty cool looking shields. :)
I have to agree though.I have tons of stuff i never use.Play with them in Droste that's always fun.
Used your top image for this. :)

Not bad at all, Erisian. Love your results.

I have got heaps of stuff that I have done but I will be the only one who ever gets to see it. Unless I can make something worth showing off with it.

I think they're completely useful. Actually, you could do very nice 3D textures with your tecnique.

(Sorry about not modeling something really nice, but I have way too many modling projects already ongoing... )

Maybe you started something here if someone has an interesting bit or piece, they like but don't know what to do with, post it and let someone else have a go at it?
How does that saying go again..."One man's trash is another man's treasure."
With all due respect to your originals, Erisian ;)

erisian: they're lovely!!! if i was still at polyvore.com making collages i'd beg you to let me clip them because they'd be perfect to put behind a head, like in this one: http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5554
i also thought of shields, and the second one could be a plate, an ornate mirror/window frame, part of the ornate wheel of a wagon or even the iris of a fantasy creature's eye. the bottom one clearly belongs in a cthulhu story! it's a secret symbol, used by members of the cult in a certain place.

rod: that's really cool!

kimppi: fun, i'd never have thought of using those as 3d textures :).

odinbc: i love that idea - that's a thread we really need. hope people pick up on it!

@ Erisian,

Maybe you can make some kind of patterns out of them.

. . . .

As for myself, I don't keep stuff that I can't find any use for.
I do have a resources folder that has a lot of backgrounds and textures and stuff like that. I go through it every so often and delete stuff that I haven't or will never use.

Rod - you've nudged me into reinstalling Mathmap. I haven't used it for ages.

kimppi - They look great. I'll be playing with that idea.

Odin - excellent idea. I was thinking of that this morning.

AnMal - I was thinking of working them into collages but I haven't had any concrete ideas.

I wouldn't say useless. I can think of several uses. The third one looks like my 4th grade teacher.

Very nice, Erisian!
If it wasn't in this thread I wouldn't have made the connection. I like subtle coloring. I guess now I must give it a go.

Yes; ran Droste twice with different settings to get the twist effect. Very manual process (second pass) unfortunately. :)
