I made this after following a PS tutorial. It's fairly straight forward converting it for use in Gimp.
Hope it's okay to add the link here to the tutorial. I thought it might be useful in case anyone wants to create a similar letter. http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/desig ... es-letter/

This is part of an image I made for a writer friend, he wanted a cover to one of his short stories. The writing at the bottom of the envelope is Elvish btw.

I'm afraid I can only read Am' Athir Elvish. This form is new to me. Still - nice results Caz. :)

To do it in GIMP you could just watch Meet The GIMP episode 72 http://blog.meetthegimp.org/episode-072 ... -from-max/ which Max based on the same PS tutorial.

paynekj: thanks for the tip! i took a quick look at the ps tut and it didn't look too hard to translate, but i'm a lazy sort and i much prefer to have someone else do the translation for me :).

It's called Jefferson. I can't quite remember where I got it from but it might have been dafont.

This form of elvish is called 'Feanorian,' so I'm told. To be honest I don't know one form of elvish from the next. I used this on-line translator to get a printed version http://derhobbit-film.de/rune_generator.shtml Then I used inkscape to turn it into a vector font that I could use on the letter.

Caz, Thanks for the font name, Jefferson. It's familiar to me but I couldn't remember it's name or where I'd seen it used.
