Many of your text tutorials includes making things look metallic.
I won't tell if you don't.

I read all the tuts, then tried on my own. That was probably a mistake, lol. And I can't find the setting to make g-fig figures with skinny lines. My lines were big fat fluffy lines.

You only need to apply a wave type curve to the gradients to get the metallic look.

I get this far, and then play with curves, and cannot make it look nice and shiny, no matter how I manipulate the curves, it doesn't not look good. Two different trys before curves. I also tried using curves on each different section of the ten sides, no joy. I guess I will have to start over and follow step by step.

Try upping contrast and/or using a gradient map.

2-ton,
The hardest part, the star, you did very well. :bigthup
I wish I could do the same! :yesnod

try:
Duplicate your star, Gussian Blur, Bump Map, and then a gradient map with a selected blend Gold.
Or try:
Colors - Curves and mess with the contrast, then paint.

haha, I think making the star is so easy. I just use the star brush for the shape. I would do g-fig but I cannot figure out how to make the stroke with a 1 pixel line. The stroke is so fat, and I don't know why. I have the paintbrush on the hard circle sized to 1.

I have the same problem with the g-fig. I had never heard of him before, nor noticed he existed in Gimp.
What I do when I use the g-fig, is select (fuzzy tool) the outside of the star (transparent) - Use Select - Grow = 1 - Invert - Clear.
With that the star is a thinner stroke.

Another option is to star in path (svg) that the Esper released. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8200&start=40#p106141

When in Gfig you have to use the 'Browse' function to select a brush and it's size.

Esper, when I open your file Star.svg, and import for the gimp, I can scales it to taste.
At this time is all I need. Anyway unaware these scripts, and can be useful.
Thx !

Damn ... I thought the G-Fig wore the adjustments that were adjusted in Gimp. Now that I read this your hint, I was checking out.
This information will also help 2-ton and other users!
Thx!

(Ahh thx for that file, cheat using it!) :hi5

because i bevelled my star, and then it gets the inner lines, n00b :rofl

:rofl

Yes! This new information has led me to try this technique. Do not need the 5 internal lines centered. Much faster and easier!
With bevelled star: (Still using the Star.svg Esper :hehe )

Thx guys! :tyspin

awesome Akros ! :clap

Akros wrote:

the script is okay, i find it pretty un-intuitive, thats why i made the chart

nowadays i would use Inkscape instead and import the svg file - much easier !

Actually, I'm thinking that method doesn't work. But we don't have a mathematical definition of a "star", either... so there's no way to say for sure.

We could say a "star with n points" is a polygon with 2n edges, and two distinct interior angles. That may be sufficient for a definition. Then the 5-point star is a 10-gon with two distinct interior angles.

Wallace's "72-degree method" produces such a star.
