Pfew.. I finally finished this piece that I worked months on..
I haven't used a reference for anything except for the wolf, also fully drawn in GIMP 2.8 + GPS and a mouse. This must be my biggest project ever.. but I'm satisfied with the outcome
(The wolf is a character from the one who commissioned this piece, her name is Eete. That's why it says 'Eete' in the title.)

Any critique is welcome! I'm not going to change anything anymore, but it will be a good learning process for next time :D

They are beautiful, outstanding. BTW, how many frames did it take for the animation?

Beautiful!
The movement in the animation looks very natural.
If you are able to do this with the mouse, I want to see what you can do with that wacom :)

Thank you! Well I tried a tablet once or twice, it wasn't really my thing, but I guess it's a matter of getting used to it :P

Very nice work! I'd cry if I had to draw each one of those strains of hair! @_@
Amazing detail, nice work! :D

Definitely a great result Baukje; took a while for the animation to come through; cool. :)

Thanks a lot both! And Moko, that fur was almost literally a pain to draw, especially because I had to draw them over and over again for every frame for the moving head.. xD

What about the tail? Did you use Cage transform tool or it was drawn by hand as well?

Nice! I could never get a good result with CTT. Seems like you've mastered the tool :) :hehe

I am especially impressed with the detail of the forest that shows up in the close-up! Beautiful!

Great work! I really like how you did the sunset fading into the constellations.

Stunning work! If I could paint half that well with a mouse I would be very very happy!

Nice finish! :)
You have really captured the mood and spirit of the wild. Now you will have to teach us all how to use that confounded Cage Transform Tool properly.

After the 10 minutes of sheer awe have passed, I'm able to nitpick again:
- the sun it a bit big.
- the mountains against the sun should be very dark (back lighting)
- these must be some very luminous stars to be visible before the sunset.

Now back to "awe" mode :)

Nice work. Good job showing the glow from the sun around objects in the composition.

Thanks a lot! Glad y'all like it :D
I'm not that good with the cage tool actually, most of the time I'm pissed because it's not going the way I want it :hehe But maybe I'll explain it soon how I did it.

Thank you! I kept the mountains lighter to create some atmosphere, but I agree they still lack shadow. I'll keep your post in mind for next time :D

Excellent work and the animation of the wolf is very lifelike.

This is an art. The main thing about art is that it doesn't have to follow the laws and patterns of the real world.
The main purpose is to provoke emotions, thinking or associations. I wonder what would you say about Van Gogh's Starry Night?
Stars are too big? Mountains are too blue? :hehe
