Space art of a quasar (I think) I made today. I did it all in gimp, except the planet textures. I got some generic ground textures from cgtectures and mapped them to spheres for the planets. I don't mind crits, feel free to judge me, just keep in mind, I'm not aiming for a physics major with it, think more like star trek science.

It is quite beautiful, although I do fear for the safety of all the planets that are too close to the quasar for comfort, lol.

I like the transparent look to the planet rings and all the light from the quasar appears to be hitting the planets in the right place. The stars are formed into a realistic looking spiral galaxy, one of the best I've seen done with Gimp, and the overall colour scheme works well. There's nothing not to like about this one, good work.

@2-ton: I kind of thought about that when I made this. I just got done watching a nova-like documentary about 'hot jupiters', gas giants that slid too close to their suns and are burning up.
