conbagui: you're making some really amazing stuff! i especially like the second one and i wonder if it might not be possible to recreate it using g'mic's light rays filter.

I'd love to see what settings you used for Luce to do the first Image
as Luce is a complicated plugin to use, but you nailed it

conbagui: i didn't have much time, so i couldn't make the text look very good or anything, but i gave g'mic a try and from the result i got with the little time i put in i think it should be possible to get almost the same effect with g'mic's light ray filter as with the luce filter - and the only reason i have for trying to proove that is that i'm getting too lazy to try out new filters  :hehe ...

You could start with some basic tutorials to get the feel of how Gimp works. They are very helpful to get your started on the basics.

conbagui: i have no idea! i thought that sounded strange, because light rays should be light rays no matter how they are created. but i have noticed that when i use the "transparent" choice in the filter i don't get the same strength to the rays - they look a bit washed out and maybe if you used that setting the rays wouldn't get the right kind of colour? i always make the rays on black and colour to alpha away the black.

I picture Aladdin singing a whole new world with Jasmine.

I'll have to play with one of these filters I'm liking this glowy effect thingy. :D

but...how do you get the colors and do you have to run the filter separately for each letter? I just tried it and only got rays coming from one spot, and they were white. I also tried the transparency and they looked grey but turned back to white when I inverted color.

lock alpha channel, drag colour over it

or

colorize

or

use b/w layer from Light Rays filter as layermask

Drat, I was hoping it would just pick up the colors from the image. So this would mean a new layer for each color.

my path is shorter, maybe because I use the mcgimp, but all the other scripts, brushes, filters, gradients, etc in my path show up just fine. I also checked in preferences, and the proper path is listed for plug-ins. Very strange.
