Coccolithophore ? what a beautiful name !

in Italian "coccole" means ...humm hard to translate may be pet, pamper ,coddle ,cosset ,mollycoddle ,cocker ,cuddle ,lap ,cosher
canoodle

and "phore " is Latin for "bring" or bringing (do you remember Lucifero ? that is a transliteration of Luxphero ,"who bring light" because before the fall was the lighest angel )

cocco-, litho- and -phore have a greek origin ("kernel", "stone", "wearing").

Just a point of interest. The Bible itself doesn't equate Lucifer with Satan. Lucifer was the Roman god of knowledge and thus his name could appropriately be translated "The enlightener"

photo comix: :hi5 :jumpclap i love them! i liked the hydra from the link very much too, but i think your solitary shapes and the beautiful lighting and colours in your pictures win at length :).

i can correct you on a linguistic issue, though: "lucifero" is not a translitteration of "luxphero". "luci" is the dative form of "lux" and dative is the case used with the verb "ferre". being italian you may of course know that already :). if you were thinking of the greek original that the latin name is a translation of, that would be "phosphoros".
