Impasto on dark canvas. Had a little help from Little Inkpot's Chalkaholic filter. :)

That is incredible ... I must play with that filter at some point. Very nice.

I actually used Chalkaholic then ran it through G'MIC Paint and used the result as a mask with the original to create the strokes. That's probably the easiest part of the render. The tough part is the blended that uses Selection from Transparent and the cool Glossy Stroke 3D (Python plugin) minus the fill layer (and deleted one of the Overlay layers too). :)

I used the free version of Little Inkpot. I did think about buying the professional versions, but my cheapness got the better of me. :)

Yeah; 2.6.11 pretty much broke many of the cool PS filters so I was forced to go back to 2.6.10. Not sure if they will remedy this in future versions of GIMP or 2.8x family either (they better; maybe they might actually update PSPI and we all can sleep happily; lol). :)

Sorry to have drawn you in my madness PC. lol

I'm not going to do a tut, but I'll show you the result after Chalkaholic/G'MIC. I first dup and set the top layer to Difference and reduce the Opacity down a little (set to 90%) and create a new layer from visable. Then I run Chalkaholic (played a little with the sliders to get more a dramatic effect) and ran it through G'MIC Paint and below is the mask that you get. :)
