something i just kind of improvised...well at least i had no plan in making it

the killer feature is based on my latest Gimp-Science-Labs tutorials, how to make shiny edges
http://gimp-science-labs.blogspot.de/20 ... -edge.html
http://gimp-science-labs.blogspot.de/20 ... -edge.html

the rest is an outer bevel, with the ring-contour on the highlight (as usual tweaked by hand with the curves tool)
the font is 'SedonaScriptFLF Medium'
and the metallic look in the middle comes from one of Draconian's metal gradients (i think), treated with Spread, G'MIC Water and Fish Eye with its center on the S

love the effect of the shiny edges, it makes the whole graphic look more shiny.

Very nice Esper. I did have a go at your tutorials on shiny edges as I really enjoyed the effect. I improvised the middle of the text for a different look, but was very pleased with the outcome. :) Image Image was for my profile pic on another site I belong to.

@he4rty: thanks ;)

@2-ton: yeah its interesting, isnt it
if you look very closely at it, it doesnt really make sense
the direction of light for the bevel and then the super shiny stroke, how does that work
but in some kind of texteffects reality context it works, lol

thanks Rellik, that came out extremely great :clap
i was trying for a long time to get this effect right and suddenly its so easy

my guess is you made the extrusion with the Make 3D script ?
that looks really extra awesome with the gradient

Yeah Esper, used the 3d script to give it a little depth and for the middle, I actually shrank the original text a bit and used a glass script on it.

One thing I've always seen coming from you is great sense of making something look shiny/lit.
Keep up the good work! :D

great Wallace !
havent seen you in a while again

how did you invert the stroke gradient like that ?
you did not do that by inverting the colours, right ?

so how did you align the same colours but inverted ??
