Ok so, same picture. Found it here. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... _Trees.jpg

I was playing with Channel Mixer to get some interesting layer masks for the effects. Was more trying to see what looks good than going for anything specific. Saved the ones that looked alright. Enjoy.

Actually, I like them all, different days, different looks.

I like the first one, it has that infrared look that I've been trying to create but have had little success with. Funny thing is it makes the bench look as if it's been pasted in. I know it's not, just one of those side effects I guess.

That first one I desaturated with the channel mixer (Monochrome option) and I played with the values until it got a little wonky. I think, if I recall this right, I turned the blue way down and fiddled with the green and red sliders until the trees lit up against the now darker sky. Then I duplicated it and ran the color edge filter in g'mic which I then screened over the top. Or maybe it was addition. Try that, either way, see how that works for you. That's kinda how I ended up with that crystal octopus a little while ago. I love that filter. Only the octo had a little rodilius love too and the trees went without.

ek22: that's not a bad little forest. my favourite is the one with bluish trees against an orange sky.

Thanks for this, EK. I had a run through using the channel mixer and managed to darken down the sky and lighter any green stuff but then got stuck.I can't find anything in G'Mic called 'colour edge.' As far as I'm aware I'm using the latest G'Mic version and all the filters have been updated so I'm a bit lost on that one.

That's because I'm dumb and can't remember the name of it with gimp closed. It immediately becomes that 'color edge thingy' which is not its technical name. It actually is 'Gradient RGB' and it's found in the 'Contours' section. I don't brain well some days, my apologies.

Cheers, EK. I'll have another go at it and see what turns up.
